CHESTERTOWN, Md.- Washington College freshman swimmer Lucas Morgan (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands Regional) is this week's Shoreman of the Week.
Morgan won three individual events in the Shoremen's 121-83 loss at Franklin & Marshall Saturday. Morgan won the 200 breaststroke in a Washington College season-best time of 2:15.02 to become the Shoremen's fifth-fastest swimmer ever in that event. He won the 500 freestyle in a WC season-best 4:55.91 to become the Shoremen's eighth-fastest swimmer ever in that event and captured the 200 individual medley in a WC season-best 2:01.29 to improve upon his time for seventh-fastest in school history in that event.
Freshman basketball player Ashley Espinosa (Reading, PA/Governor Mifflin) is this week's Shorewoman of the Week.
Espinosa was named the Most Valuable Player of the Jackie Ammons Tournament as the Shorewomen opened their season with two wins.
Espinosa came off the bench to score 21 points in her collegiate debut - a 69-56 win over Salem College in the first round Friday. She added five rebounds in the win. In the championship game - a 58-53 win over the host Pacers on Saturday - she scored 11 points and swiped a pair of steals in a reserve role.
