Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del.- Police across Delaware are planning three sobriety checkpoints and numerous DUI saturation patrols for this Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Aggressive drivers and motorists who fail to buckle up will also be targeted as part of the state Office of Highway Safety's 14th annual Safe Family Holiday campaign, which kicks off this week.

The following checkpoints are scheduled this holiday weekend:

Wednesday, Nov. 21

  • Wilmington (New Castle County DUI Task Force)

Friday, Nov. 23

  • Rehoboth Beach (Delaware State Police)

Saturday, Nov. 24

  • Newark (Delaware State Police)

The OHS said Safe Family Holiday enforcement activities over the next six weeks through New Year's Day will include 22 law enforcement agencies statewide conducting overtime patrols focusing on aggressive & impaired driving, and seat belt use.

Overtime aggressive driving enforcement will run Nov. 20- Dec. 1, and seat belt enforcement begins Dec. 2 and runs through Dec. 15. The DUI saturation patrols will begin Nov. 21, and will run through the entire holiday season and will supplement already scheduled Checkpoint Strikeforce DUI checkpoints.
