MILFORD, Del.- Delaware State Police say a Milford traffic stop led to the arrest of a Georgia man after troopers found 40 pairs of counterfeit sneakers in his car.

Troopers stopped a Chevrolet Malibu for speeding at around 3:30 p.m. Monday on Coastal Highway in the area of Wilkins Road in Milford. Police said a trooper noticed numerous boxes in the car and was given permission to search it.

Police said the trooper found 40 pairs of Nike Air Force Ones with the same serial number. Troopers said the driver could not provide receipts for the merchandise he claimed to have bought in New Jersey.

Thirty-year-old Eric J. Loatman of Atlanta was arrested and charged with trademark counterfeiting and issued a citation for speeding. He was released on $1,000 unsecured bail.
