DOVER, Del.- A Dover man treated for a gunshot wound ended up being arrested on drug charges following his discharge from the hospital.
Dover police said that at around 3 a.m. Thanksgiving Day, officers investigated a shooting in which 25-year-old Michael K. Palmer sustained a single gunshot wound to his upper left shoulder. Police said when officers arrived at Palmer's hotel room at the Dover Inn, they smelled the strong odor of marijuana. The officers located 142 grams of marijuana inside the room, according to investigators.
Palmer was transported to BayHealth Medical Center where he was treated for his gunshot wound.
Police said two bundles of heroin, 19 doses of ecstasy, and $1,560 in cash were located in Palmer's pants. He was treated and released from Bayhealth and arrested for numerous drug-related charges, including possession with intent to deliver. He was released after posting $6,200 secured bond.
Police noted that Palmer failed to cooperate with the shooting investigation, so there is no suspect information available yet.
