NEW YORK, N.Y. -- University of Delaware junior guard Devon Saddler was
named to the NIT Season Tip-Off All-Tournament Team following a pair of
outstanding performances against Kansas State and Pitt this past week at
Madison Square Garden.
Saddler averaged 30 points during the two games in New York, going 22 of
42 from the field for a 52.4 field goal percentage. He also went 5 of 10
from three-point range and was 11 of 13 from the foul line while
accounting for 48 percent of the Blue Hens' points during the pair of
Saddler tied his career-high by scoring 32 points Wednesday against
Kansas State, when he went 12 of 22 from the field to go with five
rebounds and four assists. He scored 12 of the Blue Hens' final 14
points of the contest, as Delaware's comeback fell just short in the
66-63 loss to the Wildcats.
Saddler led all scorers again during Friday's 85-59 setback to Pitt,
scoring 28 points on 10 of 20 shooting from the field and a perfect 6 of
6 from the charity stripe. He also grabbed five rebounds and handed out
a pair of assists, and scored 14 consecutive UD points during a
seven-minute stretch early in the second half.
Tim Hardaway, Jr. of Michigan was named the tournament's Most
Outstanding Player and was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Saddler,
