OCEAN CITY, Md.- Ocean City police say that after they found out a man was planning on holding up a store, officers were waiting there to greet him upon his arrival.

Police said that on Monday, Nov. 26, detectives received confidential information that a man, later identified as 25-year-old Hector Aaron Torres of Ocean City, was planning an armed robbery of the O.C. Dollar Store located at 203 Philadelphia Ave.

According to police, detectives corroborated the information and based upon the detailed information received, officers immediately removed the store employees from the business. Police said they then concealed tactical officers inside and outside of the business and began surveillance.

Investigators said that at approximately 8:20 p.m., Torres entered the O.C. Dollar Store wearing a hooded sweat shirt, with the hood pulled over his head to conceal his face. Authorities said Torres, who was holding a razor knife in one hand and a kitchen knife in the other, walked through the store aisles attempting to locate a store employee. It was at this point that officers confronted Torres inside of the business and attempted to arrest him, police said.

Torres immediately attempted to run away and officers ordered him to stop, according to police. They said that after failing to heed the officers' orders, Torres was subdued and taken into custody by an officer who stunned him with a Taser. Officers said they recovered the knives that Torres had discarded when he attempted to flee the scene.

Torres was arrested and charged with armed robbery, robbery, robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, resisting arrest, possession of a concealed deadly weapon and possession of a deadly weapon with intent to injure. He is being held on $250,000 bond.
