Man Pleads Guilty to Trying to Entice Minor

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - A former church facilities manager in Pennsylvania has pleaded guilty in federal court in Delaware to trying to entice a person he believed to be a minor into having sex with him.

Authorities say 55-year-old Jeffrey Darlin of Swarthmore, Pa., pleaded guilty Tuesday to attempted coercion and enticement of a minor. Darlin faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years, and a maximum sentence of life, in prison.

Darlin was arrested in February after a sting operation. Authorities say he traveled from his home to Bellevue State Park outside Wilmington to meet a person he believed to be a 14-year-old girl for sex. The arrest came about three weeks after Darlin began communicating online with an undercover federal agent, using a computer in his office at Swarthmore Presbyterian Church.
