Allegiant Air to End Service From Salisbury

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md- After less than a year of providing discount flights, Allegiant Air announced it will end its scheduled service from the Salisbury-Ocean City: Wicomico Regional Airport.

The carrier's last day of service will be Jan. 5, 2013. According to Allegiant, customers with reservations beyond that date will be contacted directly for full refund.

"We are always disappointed to end service in a market," said Eric Fletcher, manager of airports for Allegiant Travel Company. "We thank the Salisbury-Ocean City: Wicomico Regional Airport for their partnership and apologize to any travelers who are inconvenienced by this decision."

Allegiant began service from Salisbury on Feb. 16, 2012, with the promise of offering flights to bigger cities. Orlando, Fla., was one of its key destinations.
