1,800 Drivers in Del. Cited for Distracted Driving

Posted:

DOVER, Del. (WBOC/AP)- State officials say more than 1,800 drivers were cited for distracted driving during the first wave of a new law enforcement campaign.

The Delaware Office of Highway Safety said Tuesday that police across the state conducted the campaign between Nov. 7 and Nov. 20 with a total of 1,830 drivers issued citations.

The campaign is called "Phone in One Hand. Ticket in the Other."

Distracted driving consists of any non-driving activity a person engages in that has the potential to distract from driving.

The next special enforcement wave will be conducted next year, officials said.
