LEESBURG, Va.– Wesley College safety Jared Morris, offensive lineman Brian Cranmer, and punt returner Sean Hopkins were all named to the Beyond Sports Network Football All-America Team, the website announced on Wednesday. Morris earned second team honors while Cranmer received third team recognition and Hopkins took honorable mention accolades.
A native of Toms River, N.J., Morris led the Wolverines with six interceptions, helping the squad to a team-record 26 picks in 2012. The junior, who converted from wide receiver this season, recorded a Wesley single-game record four interceptions in the season-opener at East Texas Baptist. Morris finished the year third on the team with 76 tackles and 8.0 tackles for loss.
Cranmer has started on the offensive line for the last three seasons at both guard and tackle. The senior team captain from Cologne, N.J., was a key cog on the left side of the line this year, helping the Wolverines offense average 34.0 points and 365.1 yards per game.
Hailing from nearby Georgetown, Del., Hopkins led all of NCAA Division III with an 18.6 yards per punt return average. Hopkins had eight returns of over 20 yards and five over forty, including a season-long 49 yard return for a touchdown at Huntingdon.
The Wolverines finished the season with a 10-2 record and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals. After making its eighth-straight postseason appearance, Wesley has now won 100 games since 2004.
