EASTON, Md.- Vandals have left their mark on the new RTC Park in Easton. The paint had barely a chance to dry before graffiti was scrawled all over electrical transformers and bathroom walls.

"We are looking at about 60 acres of land that can be used by families and you wouldn't want to bring your family out here and see these kind of signs on the walls," said Easton Mayor Robert Willey.

Easton Director of Parks and Recreation Lorraine Gould said was a step backwards in the town's $1 million park renovation process.

"I was really disappointed because it's really nice place out here," Gould said. "It's quiet. You can come out here bring your kids, read and just enjoy the day. But when I saw that, it was a heartbreaker."

This incident is upsetting to the Easton community on many levels, especially because the bathrooms had not yet opened before being vandalized.

"It's just unbelievable that we can't even get the park finished and to have it vandalized," Willey said.

The park has a new tot lot, a countywide trail and the bathrooms are set to open by the spring. Ron Rowe of Talbot County is disgusted and said this is usually the time of the year for doing good.

"It's such a shame, especially this time of the year. It even gives credibility to people aren't thinking," Rowe said.
