CHESTERTOWN, MD – Visiting Widener won eight of 11 events en route to a 123-77 win over host Washington College on Saturday afternoon at the Casey Swim Center in non-conference women's swimming action. The Pride improves to 6-3 overall, while the Shorewomen fall to 2-4.
Junior Ellie Miskiel (Gaithersburg, MD/Quince Orchard) won the 100 breaststroke and the 200 individual medley with times of 1:09.92 and 2:19.29 respectively. Her time in the individual medley was a season-best time for WC.
Also winning for Washington was the 200 medley relay team of sophomore Alicia Howard (Wilmington, DE/Charter School of Wilmington), Miskiel, junior Carly Ogren (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock) and sophomore Clair Belleveau (Easton, CT/Joel Barlow) with a time of 2:00.46.
Ogren had a pair of second place finishes, 25.81 in the 50 freestyle and 56.78 in the 100 freestyle.
Senior Allison Kvien (Mechanicsville, MD/Chopticon) was second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:12.05. Sophomore Emily Goodchild (Annapolis, MD/St. Mary's) placed second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:07.52.
The 200 freestyle relay team of Howard, Belleveau, sophomore Ashley Maurizi (Reamstown, PA/Cocalico) and freshman Julianna Fritzinger (Red Lion, PA/Red Lion Area) placed second with a time of 1:50.55.
WC will return to the pool on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 against visiting Elizabethtown at 6:00 p.m. From January 2-9, the team will train for its annual winter training trip in Key West, FL.
