Jones, Claybrooks Named PRMC UMES Athletes of the Week

PRINCESS ANNE, Md.- Sophomore Kyree Jones (Indianapolis, Ind.) and freshman Ashleigh
Claybrooks (Manassas, Va.) have been named the Peninsula Regional Medical Center
University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week for the week of Dec. 10. This is the
first honor of the year for either student-athlete.

Jones provided two outstanding lines for the men's basketball this past week. The sophomore
began the week with a team-high 24 points and three assists in the Hawks' 100-68 loss at
Maryland. He shot 9-of-17 from the floor and brought down three rebounds in a team-high 32
minutes. His strong play continued into UMES' second game of the week, when he scored a
game-high 25 points in a 92-60 loss at Cincinnati. For the week, Jones tallied 49 points and
seven assists in 71 minutes.

Claybrooks was a dominant force for the women's basketball team this past week. She was a big
part of the Hawks' 60-48 victory over Towson, where she scored nine points and had three steals
in 21 minutes. She chipped in with a 3-for-4 effort from the free-throw line and also had two
offensive boards. The freshman was 5-for-13 for 11 points and had nine rebounds in UMES' 62-
58 loss at Mount St. Mary's earlier in the week. She also had one block and five offensive
rebounds. For the week, she totaled 20 points and 11 rebounds in 40 minutes of play.
