Velvet E. Rizer
SALISBURY, Md.- Authorities say a night of partying landed a Salisbury woman in jail after she broke into a home that she thought belonged to her, but didn't.
The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office reports that shortly after midnight Sunday, a deputy responded to a reported altercation inside an apartment on the 1000 block of Beaglin Park Drive in Salisbury. Police said the deputy met with two residents who claimed they had caught someone, later identified as 51-year-old Velvet E. Rizer, breaking into their apartment through the sliding door. According to investigators, the victims stated that after Rizer entered the apartment, a physical confrontation occurred between her and the two residents as they tried to force her out of their home.
The deputy located Rizer in a nearby apartment where police say she appeared to be visibly intoxicated. The investigation revealed that Rizer was on her way home from a party when she errantly entered the apartment of the victims, according to police.
As a result of the incident, Rizer was charged with burglary and second-degree assault and ordered held in the Wicomico County Detention Center in lieu of $30,000.00 bond.
