DOVER, Del. (AP)- The Delaware Compensation Commission is meeting to consider whether to recommend pay raises for state lawmakers, the governor and other high-ranking officials.

House and Senate Republicans in the General Assembly signed a letter to the commission this week urging the panel not to recommend raises for lawmakers this year. They did not address the issue of salary adjustments for judges and top-ranking executive branch officials, including the governor and cabinet secretaries.

Under state law, the commission's recommendations go into effect automatically early next year unless lawmakers vote them down in their entirety.

The commission has set aside two hours to accept public comment Thursday afternoon before convening its meeting.
