MILFORD, Del. (WBOC/AP)- Police say a 16-year-old student at Milford High School drove to school with a loaded 20-gauge shotgun concealed in his car.

The teen has been charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a firearm in a safe school zone and unlawfully loaded shotgun.

Milford police said a school resource officer got a tip that the boy had purposely brought the gun to school. Police say there was no threat associated with his action.

Police obtained a warrant to search the boy's car in the school parking lot and found the shotgun and ammunition inside.

The boy is in his parents' custody after they posted $20,100 unsecured bail. He has been placed on mandatory electronic monitoring and ordered to undergo a mental evaluation.
