NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Newark police say Canadian authorities have positively identified a woman found at a Toronto shelter as a woman reported missing in Newark last month.
Authorities say 56-year-old Linda Hegg was identified by Toronto police last week using DNA analysis.
Canadian authorities said the woman, previously known only as "Linda," entered Canada by bus with an expired U.S. passport. She walked into a downtown Toronto shelter for help on Sept. 5, carrying no identification and suffering from health problems.
On Nov. 7, Canadian police received information about a woman reported missing from Newark who resembled "Linda."
Newark police said they were notified in early November by a caretaker that Hegg had gone missing.
