O.C. Police Say Suspected Drunk Driver Had Guns in Car

OCEAN CITY, Md.- Ocean City police say a driver arrested for DUI was also charged with weapons offenses after three guns were found in his car.

Police said that at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, officers stopped a car in the area of 65th Street and Coastal Highway after receiving a tip that the driver, 43-year-old Scot Ronald Randolf, was very intoxicated. In addition to receiving information describing Randolf's vehicle, police said officers were also told that Randolf possibly had three firearms in his car.

During the traffic stop, police said they recovered two handguns, a shotgun and ammunition from the interior passenger compartment of the car. At the time of the stop, the weapons were unloaded. Also located in the car was drug paraphernalia with suspected marijuana residue, according to investigators.

Randolf was arrested and charged with possession of handgun in a vehicle, possession of a handgun on person, possession of a controlled dangerous substance- marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said that during the investigation, Randolf submitted to a breath test and was found to have a blood alcohol content that was more than three times the legal limit. As a result, he was additionally charged with drunk driving-related charges.

Randolf was later released on his own recognizance.
