SU Sits at No. 23 in Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings

CLEVELAND– The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics released the official fall standings of the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup and Salisbury University sits in 23rd place with 179 points through the fall season.

Salisbury's 179 points are the sixth most for the program through the fall season in the 18 years of the Directors' Cup. The program awards points to each team that participates in NCAA
postseason play, with Salisbury getting points from volleyball, field hockey and football in the fall of 2012.

Volleyball garnered 79 points for Salisbury after winning a program-record 37 matches and making a run to the NCAA quarterfinals, the deepest run in program history. The field hockey
and football teams each earned 53 points after advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament. Salisbury is one of five Capital Athletic Conference schools to find a place in the rankings, followed by the University of Mary Washington (62nd place with 83 points), Wesley College (75th place with 70 points), York (Pa.) College (80th place with 64 points) and Frostburg State University (129th place with 25 points).

In all, 184 schools received points for fall postseason play. The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between NACDA and USA Today. Points are awarded based
on each institution's finish in up to 18 sports – nine women's and nine men's.
