UNDATED (WBOC/AP)- Police in both Maryland and Delaware say there will be increased patrols through the holiday period.
Maryland State Police said state and local police agencies began the stepped-up enforcement Thursday. The operation will continue daily through Jan. 2.
Troopers said they are focusing specifically on aggressive, drunk and drugged drivers.
In Delaware, the state Office of Highway Safety said DUI saturation patrols and checkpoints will continue through the entire holiday season. The following two DUI checkpoints are scheduled in Delaware for this weekend:
Friday, Dec. 21
- Bear (New Castle County DUI Task Force)- checkpoint
Saturday, Dec. 22
- Georgetown (multi-jurisdictional effort)- checkpoint
