RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia is holding a moment of silence to mark the Connecticut school shooting a week ago.
Gov. Bob McDonnell is asking for a statewide moment of silence at 9:30 a.m. on Friday.
The proclamation marking a day of mourning also calls for the bell at the Capitol Bell Tower ring 26 times in honor of each of the victims of tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary.
McDonnell says the move is a small token of support and solidarity for those grieving in Connecticut.
