Lake Forest High School Student Arrested for Bringing BB Gun to School

Posted:

FELTON, Del.- Delaware State Police say troopers arrested a 16-year-old Lake Forest High School student after he brought a BB gun to school on Thursday morning.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 7:10 a.m., as students were getting off the buses at the school located on Killens Pond Road in Felton. Investigators said a male student, who was riding the bus with the 16-year-old, informed a teacher upon arriving at the school that the suspect told him he was carrying a gun and then showed it to him on the bus. The teacher alerted the school administrators and school resource officer who contacted the suspect in the hallway and escorted him to an unoccupied office.

Police said a search of the student's backpack revealed a plastic BB gun and a clip loaded with pellets. There is no indication from police that the teen made any threats with the gun.

A parent of the 16-year-old was called to the school to take him home. The teen was issued a criminal summons for carrying a concealed dangerous instrument. He will have to appear in Kent County Family Court at a later date for arraignment.
