Gifts From the Q.A. County Sheriff

Updated:

CENTREVILLE, Md.- The Queen Anne's County Sheriff's office is giving out free gun locks to anyone who wants one for a present or a stocking stuffer.

"We have been supporting providing gun locks to the community for the past several years and this is a good time to remind the community that they need to secure the weapons that are out there and make sure that children to not have access to those firearms," said Queen Anne's County Sheriff Gary Hoffman.

Gun control and guns in general have been a hot topic. Hoffman said it is important to remind gun owners about the importance of firearm safety.

Cassandra Guy works in Queen Anne's County. She said gun owners should take advantage of this offer.

"A lot of people should take advantage of it and then they don't have to worry if someone gets a hold of their gun or a child picks up their gun," Guy said. "I think there is a lot of senseless killing going on and if they had gun locks there wouldn't be."

Anthony Barasso of Centreville said gun locks can prevent accidents from happening but they will not prevent everything.

"I don't think it's going to stop people from doing stupid things," Barasso said.
