REHOBOTH, Del.- Delaware State Police have announced the arrest of a third suspect wanted in connection with a robbery that occurred in Rehoboth Beach early Saturday morning.
Artez D. Sheppard, 18, of Rehoboth Beach turned himself in to detectives at Troop 4 late Sunday morning after seeing himself on the news. He was charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree conspiracy and ordered held on $21,000 secured bond.
Two other teens wanted in the robbery were arrested earlier Sunday: 17-year-old- Shawn L. Godwin and 17-year-old Alexander Jones, both of Lincoln. Both were charged with the same offenses as Sheppard and released to the custody of their parents.
Troopers said the incident occurred at approximately 1:37 a.m. Saturday as the 30-year-old victim was returning to his home at the unit block of Bryan Drive. According to police, the victim was approached by the three suspects, one of whom pointed what appeared to be a handgun at him and demanded his money. The victim complied and gave an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspects who then fled the scene, police said.
Investigators said it turned out the weapon used in the crime was a BB gun, which resembled a black semi-automatic handgun.
