NEWPORT NEWS, VA - George Washington women's basketball senior Danni Jackson was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Jackson scored a season-high 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting and added seven assists and five rebounds to lead GW to a 60-52 win over local rival George Mason in its lone game last week. She twice scored six straight points in the first half, including during the Colonials' 12-2 opening run, and she also scored the final five points of the game to seal the victory.
A native of Dumfries, Va., Jackson ranks second in the A-10 in steals (2.9 spg), third in assists (5.5 apg) and fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.6).
The Player of the Week award is the first of Jackson's career, and she is the first Colonial to be honored by the A-10 since Tara Booker on Jan. 9, 2012.
Winners of two in a row, Jackson and the Colonials (6-5) return to action on Friday, Dec. 28, when they visit No. 8 California.
