PHILADELPHIA – The honors are starting to pour in for Temple University senior guard Khalif Wyatt
following his career day in the Owls'83-79 upset of #3/3 Syracuse
Saturday at Madison Square Garden. The Norristown, Pa. native
(Norristown HS) was named NBC Sports National Player of the Week while
picking up his first Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week and
second Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week honor of the season
Wyatt, who scored a career-high 33 points against the Orange, averaged 23.3 points and 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists while leading Temple to a 2-1 week. He led the Owls in scoring in all three games, tallying 20 points in a win over Alcorn State on Dec. 17 and 17 points in a loss to Canisius on Dec. 19. He made 28 of 30 free throw attempts (.933) over the three games, including an incredible 15 of 15 in the win over Syracuse.
On the season Wyatt leads the team in scoring (16.2 ppg.), assists (3.9 apg.) and free throw percentage (.825).
Temple next hosts Detroit on Friday, December 28 in the final game of the Chevrolet Gotham Classic. The game will tip-off at 3:00 p.m. also be broadcast on 1210 AM WPHT as well as video-streamed on OwlAccess.
