Annapolis Bird Count Finds 108 Species

Posted:

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - An annual bird count in Annapolis found 108 different species, but bird watchers were hampered by windy conditions.

The Anne Arundel Bird Club completed its 59th annual bird count on Sunday. The paper reported the windy conditions likely affected the count because birds tend to hunker down when it is windy. Still, bird watchers saw a number of species rarely seen in the area including a purple sandpiper and two rufous hummingbirds.

A total of 75 bird watchers participated in this year's count, which is part of the National Audubon Society's bird count program.
