WILMINGON, Del. (AP) - Students at a private school in Wilmington are raising money to buy body armor for a police dog.
The Ursuline Academy's Friends of the Animals Club plans to raise money to buy the protective gear for Neo, a 20-month-old German Shepherd who is a member of the Wilmington police's K-9 unit.
The club's faculty moderator says students will meet next week to come up with fundraising ideas.
According to Massachusetts Vest-A-Dog, a group that buys bulletproof vests for police dogs in Massachusetts, the vests cost between $1,000 to $$2,400.
