NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a 24-year-old woman is dead and a man in critical condition after a crash on Churchmans Road in Newark.

Troopers say the crash happened at 10:49 p.m. Thursday when 37-year-old Robert Vanaskey Jr. of New Castle was traveling westbound on Churchmans Road in a Pontiac Grand Am. Troopers say that for an unknown reason Vanaskey's vehicle crossed the double yellow line in the center of the road and hit a 1992 Honda driven by Melissa Foraker of New Castle.

Foraker, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. Vanaskey was taken to a hospital.

Officials are investigating.
