SALISBURY, Md.- Authorities say two men arrested for shooting at a police officer's home in western Sussex County, Del., are expected to be indicted in Maryland for allegedly shooting at the homes of three law enforcement officers in Wicomico County.
Delaware State Police on Thursday announced the arrests of Orrin D. Joudrey, 20, of Delmar, Md., and David M. Watson II, 24, of Laurel, Del., for allegedly shooting at a Dewey Beach police officer's home west of Laurel last week.
Authorities said the two men were ultimately identified as the suspects in the shooting after a Wicomico County sheriff's deputy initially noticed a driver who made a traffic violation in Maryland. The deputy alerted Delaware State Police who eventually pulled Joudrey over near Laurel and arrested him for DUI. Investigators said that during the traffic stop, the alleged gun used in the shooting was found in his car. Watson was later arrested in connection with the incident.
The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office has been probing similar shootings that targeted three police officers' homes in the county. Investigators said they believe Joudrey and Watson were the ones responsible for the incidents.
During a Friday morning press conference to discuss the shootings, Lewis said that each time the shots were fired, the bullets penetrated all the way through the targeted homes.
"These shootings occurred at nighttime while individuals would likely be home in bed with their families and their marked patrol cars were in the yard," Lewis said. "So one would infer that these police officers are in the house with their family."
While there were no injuries in any of the four shooting incidents, both Joudrey and Watson face attempted murder charges in Delaware.
There are no pending charges in Maryland for the two suspects just yet, but the Wicomico County State's Attorney's Office is preparing indictments.
