MILFORD, Del.-Around 11 p.m. on Saturday night, the Milford Police Special Operations Group took 22-year-old Eric G. Correa of Milford into custody at a local business in the 900 block of N. Dupont Highway.

Correa was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by person prohibited.

Police concluded a month long investigation which they say stemmed from a December argument between Correa and a 32-year-old man at a local WAWA convenience store.

Police said after the verbal dispute, Correa then followed the victim back to Brightway Commons Apartment Complex.

Once there, Correa confronted the victim and then showed a handgun before firing multiple rounds at the victim, striking him several times. Police said Correa then took off.

The victim was transported to Milford Bayhealth Hospital and later flown to Christiana Care Hospital in serious condition with multiple gunshot wounds.

Correa was arraigned and committed in default of $170,000 cash bond.
