Judge Puts Lawsuit Over Del. Development on Hold

Posted:

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - A Delaware judge has put a lawsuit over a redevelopment project in suburban Wilmington on hold after attorneys for New Castle County abruptly reversed course.

Vice chancellor Sam Glasscock III said Tuesday he has grave concerns about the conflict generated by county attorneys, who first defended the Barley Mill Plaza project but told the court over the weekend that they now side with opponents.

The judge gave county attorneys until Jan. 15 to explain themselves.

A group called Save Our County wants the project put on hold, arguing that a traffic study should have been done before rezoning was approved.

County attorneys sided with the developer when former county executive Paul Clark was in office, but Tom Gordon, who was elected county executive in November, supports opponents of the project.
