Slideshow: DAFB C-17 Training Flight

DOVER, Del.- This week the Dover Air Force Base hosted members of the local media for a tour of the facility and to take part in a training flight.

WBOC Kent County Bureau Director Mike Chesney went along for the ride in a C-17 Globemaster III. The trip took him and the other participants from Dover up to Maine. There, the C-17 met up with a tanker plane for refueling.

DAFB has 13 C-17s and 6 C-5Ms. They combine to provide almost 20 percent of the entire lift capability for the Air Force.

Indian River has the largest hispanic population in the county, and it's board members said that the newcomers could mean problems for the school district. School board member Donald Hattier is the one who recommended that this discussion be put on the meeting's agenda.More
