PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Seniors Andre Walsh (St. Catherine, Jamaica) and Anggie Ramirez (Bogota, Colombia) have been named the Peninsula Regional Medical Center University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 21. This is the first honor of the year for either student-athlete.
Ramirez was named Most Valuable Player of the 5th Annual Terrier New York Knock Down Tournament in New York, N.Y., this past weekend. She averaged a score of 227.33 and knocked down 1,364 pins over six games. Ramirez registered four games of at least 200, including a high of 247. The left-hander was also rewarded with All-Tournament Team laurels after she led the squad to a 4-2 record and second-place finish in the event.
Walsh is now ranked as the top 200m runner in the IC4A/ECAC rankings. He claims the position after he ran a 21.38 at the University of Albany Great Dane Invitational this past weekend. Walsh was the top collegiate runner in the event as he claimed 10 total points for the Hawks. His time was the best by .08 seconds and he now stands 25 places higher than the nearest Mid- Eastern Athletic Conference competitor in the IC4A/ECAC rankings.
