MILTON, Del.- Police on Thursday were searching for an unidentified male suspect who allegedly stabbed a female victim in a parking lot about a half-block from H.O. Brittingham Elementary, said Milton Police Chief William Phillips.

H.O. Brittingham was locked down since the incident occurred at about 12:35 p.m., Phillips said, and officers in Milton were tasked with helping students safely onto school buses toward the end of the school day.

The reason why the woman was assaulted has yet to be determined, but she has been transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and her condition is unknown, according to Phillips.
