SMYRNA, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a man was assaulted in his home by two assailants in Smyrna.
Police say the 38-year-old man answered his door late Friday night after hearing someone knocking. A male suspect at the door told him that his car had slid into the victim's car and damaged it.
Police say the victim went outside to investigate and was confronted by a second suspect. The two male suspects demanded cash and displayed handguns. The victim turned over an undisclosed amount of money and a written prescription for medication. The suspects then took the victim back into the house and demanded more money. There was a physical confrontation, and the victim was struck in the head with a handgun.
The victim was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
