Accomack Arsonist Strikes Again

Updated:

PARKSLEY, VA.- Roasted wood, piles of ashes and a barn stripped down to its nails;
that's what's left of a structure police say was lit on fire by an arsonist last night.

"It's very serious that he is setting anything a fire," said Billy Graham of Parksley.

The suspected arsonist targets vacant buildings, according to police, and that sets off a red flag for some people.

"I live around there. I got a big barn," Graham said. He adds, "I am worried about him coming by and setting more stuff on fire, and if he get on my property, he ain't leaving."

Virginia State Police are asking for any tips that might lead to an arrest and Graham says he has one the police should definitely hear.

"He Stopped in the middle of the curve, backed up and left," Graham said. "Apparently didn't want to continue down the road to maybe he could have been recognized or get his license tag taken."

A "string of arsons" is what the police are calling it. A storage building that sat just a few feet from this barn was one of the first targets.

"Burned that house down, a house down on Johnson road, and he set fire to this one last night," Graham said.

Esther also lives in the neighborhood and says the police need to let the community know what's going on.

"It's scary because they could start burning houses that people live in," Esther Floyd.
