HARRINGTION, Del.- Police have arrested a Harrington woman accused of assaulting her 10-year-old child.
Harrington police said the Division of Family Services contacted the department on Jan. 25, in reference to a suspected child abuse incident that had occurred at a home on 100 Mechanic St. Investigators said that the suspect, Erica L. Vockel, 33, had reportedly been abusing her child inside the home.
According to police, Child Advocacy Center conducted an interview with the child that revealed Vockel had used her hand and a fly swatter to spank the child numerous times, leaving bruises on the child's buttocks.
As a result of the investigation, police arrested Vockel for third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child. She was released on a $2,000 secure bond.
