Delaware Officials Distribute Blankets for Homeless

Posted: Updated:

NEW CASTLE, Del.- State officials are distributing more than 500 blankets to nonprofit organizations in Delaware to give to homeless people.

The blankets were to be distributed to nine nonprofit organizations on Friday from a warehouse at the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services' Herman Holloway Campus near New Castle.

Officials say the organizations must distribute the blankets to people who are homeless within seven days.

The effort is being led by the Division of State Service Centers with funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services under the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

The blankets are manufactured by Northwest Woolen Mills and are the same quality as those provided to members of the U.S. military.
