ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) - Washington Capitals general manager George McPhee says it's not time to make radical moves, even though the team is the worst in the NHL with nearly a quarter of the season done.

McPhee on Friday cited penalties and goaltending as two of the major culprits that have caused the Capitals to lose 9 of their first 11 games.

McPhee says "we're not going to blow anything up." He adds that owner Ted Leonsis is "not very happy" but has been supportive.

McPhee also says he's happy with Alex Ovechkin's play even though the former 2-time league MVP has yet to score a 5-on-5 goal this season.

McPhee is giving a vote of confidence to new coach Adam Oates and says the team's undisciplined play isn't because of the new system.
