WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) - The Carroll County Sheriff's Office says a driver was killed when his vehicle hit a school bus in Westminster.

Deputies responded to a 911 call around 7 a.m. Monday reporting the crash near the intersection of Sullivan Road with Route 27. Police say a car driven by 24-year-old Devin Michael Spence of Westminster slid across the center line.

Authorities say the car spun sideways and hit an oncoming school bus, then burst into flames. Spence was found dead by first responders. No one on the bus was injured.

Deputies say Spence was a teacher at Manchester Valley High School.

The accident is under investigation.
