Officials: Md. School Teacher Had Sex With Teen

Posted:

BEL AIR, Md. (AP) - A woman working as a teacher's helper at a Harford County high school has been charged with having sex with a 15-year-old student.

The Harford County Sheriff's Office said 35-year-old Amanda Kay Miller of Whiteford was arrested Monday. Miller worked at the North Harford High School in Pylesville as an inclusion helper, someone who assists a classroom teacher in preparing materials and charting student progress.

The Sheriff's Office says the 15-year-old told investigators that he had sex with Miller. The teen also told investigators that Miller had on occasion taken him home from school and also purchased cigarettes for him.

A spokeswoman for the school system said Tuesday that Miller had been placed on leave pending the outcome of the investigation. It was not clear if Miller had an attorney.
