Va. Dad Accused of Abusing Newborn in Hospital ICU

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP)- A Portsmouth man faces charges of abusing his newborn son in a hospital intensive care unit.

Portsmouth police spokeswoman Jan Clark said that 21-year-old Matthew Wayne Strawn is charged with child abuse and felonious assault.

Clark says Strawn's 11-day-old son was injured on Feb. 1 while in the neo natal ICU at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center. The infant had contusions to his back and face.
