ST. GEORGES, Del. (AP) - Officials are confident that most of the 1,600 gallons of diesel fuel that spilled at a Department of Transportation facility in St. George's would be recovered.
The spill was discovered Monday and was contained by a nearby retention pond.
DelDOT officials said Tuesday that contractors from the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control had excavated the area near the diesel storage tank. Officials say a pipe connecting the tank to the fuel pump was broken.
Cleanup costs are estimated to be about $50,000. The incident is under investigation.
