Last Minute Valentine's Shoppers

Posted:

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- Last minute shopping rears its ugly head at least twice a year.  Christmas time generally has large crowds right before the 25th, and of course Valentines Day.  Plenty of procrastinating shoppers in Sussex County on Thursday searching for the perfect last minute gift.

"Yeah, I'm a procrastinator.  I was just texting a friend.  Valentine's Day is the procrastinator's Christmas."

Rehoboth Beach had plenty of shops ready to lend last minute shoppers a helping hand.

"We have chocolates galore.  You can hand pick them, you can buy them already in a Valentine's box with a nice heart shape," said Jeff Balk, the owner of Snyder's Candy.

"People are coming in for chocolate covered strawberries.  We have lots of cupcakes with Valentines decorations and red boxes.

Many people have a good excuse for why they waited until the last minute but everybody knows that whether you buy a gift last minute, or months in advance, you don't go home empty handed on Valentine's Day.

John Perdini of Rehoboth Beach said, "I wouldn't go home.  I wouldn't be allowed to go home.  I'd be sleeping in the garage."
