FEDERALSBURG, Md.- Authorities are searching for the cause of a three-alarm fire that ripped through a Federalsburg home on Tuesday night.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said the blaze was reported by a passerby shortly after 8 p.m. at a two-story single family home located at 307 Buena Vista Ave.

Fifty-seven firefighters from the Federalsburg, Preston, Hurlock, Eldorado Brookview, East New Market and the Seaford, Del., volunteer fire companies responded to the fire. It took about an hour to get it under control.

One firefighter was transported to a local hospital for a minor injury suffered at the scene. There were no other reported injuries.

The estimated dollar loss to the structure and its contents is still being determined.

The home's occupants are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
