OTTAWA, Feb. 22, 2013 /CNW/ - One of Canada's best-known artists, Robert Lepage, has received the 10th Glenn Gould Prize in recognition of his unique lifetime contribution to the arts.

Mr. Lepage has a well-deserved reputation, in Canada and internationally, for his incredible work as a director, playwright, actor and filmmaker. His highly visual style integrates new technologies and creative art forms, resulting in a sense of ritual, magic and wonder.

In 2008, to mark the 400th anniversary of Quebec City, Mr. Lepage's production company, Ex Machina, created The Image Mill, a gigantic outdoor architectural projection that helped Canadians celebrate four centuries of history.

On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Government of Canada, I offer my sincere congratulations to Robert Lepage for his remarkable contribution to this country's rich and diverse cultural landscape.
