LONDON, February 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --

The Top 100 best performing hedge funds with over $1 Billion of assets under management generated returns from +5 to +38% in 2012. Ranging from single asset classes ,to macro, of the Top 10 performers, over a third made their returns (+25% avg.) from long/short and multi strategy according to a recent survey by Bloomberg.

Interestingly, the most notable funds running long/short and multi-strategy style money utilize the investment research services of specialists, TSR, the global leading Special Situations research advisor based in London & New York. They returned hedge funds +23% in 2012, or put another way, +73% vs. the MSCI World Index.

This +23% return by TSR was generated from the ideas they advised and recommended clients to buy/hold and adding them to their TSR Portfolio, which is solely based on global Corporate Spinoffs that TSR released research on pre-event. Currently, TSR's Portfolio has returned an absolute +76% since Dec. 2007 (and that's vs. -12% for the MSCI World Index). So the secret UK research team are clearly generating significant outperformance and added value for their global client base with their low cost services.

To add to this, TSR recently launched The Distressed Report™ (TDR). However, this is not Distressed Credit. It's for Funds looking for top quality, structured research ideas covering all other forms of Special Situations with +30% upside. In short, it's Global Distressed Equity, circa 50 ideas generated a year / 4-5 researched ideas a month themed on: Deep Value (with a Catalyst!), Activism, Bankruptcy, Turnarounds, Distressed Securities, Rights Issues and Restructurings, etc.

With a full team of Special Situation analysts to back-up the servicing needs of funds and being global, it's the first product of its kind. Added to that, the ideas are governed by Founder and Special Situations fund manager, Jim Osman.

For those interested, TSR's management will be Roadshowing their top ideas in March.
