YORK, Pa.– Salisbury University senior Travon Vann and junior Tim Harwood were named to the All-Capital Athletic Conference first and second teams, respectively, in men's basketball, the league announced on Tuesday.
Vann made quite an impact in his only season with the Sea Gulls. The 6-foot-3 point guard from Frederick, Md., was third in the CAC in scoring and rebounding, averaging 19.0 points and eight rebounds per game. He was also fifth in the league in both assists (four) and steals per game (1.7).
Vann earned CAC Men's Basketball Player or Co-Player of the Week four times, including consecutively on Nov. 19 and 26. He was also picked for the first D3hoops.com Team of the Week this season and claimed MVP honors in both the 15th Annual Tip-Off Tournament at Lycoming College and the GU Holiday Tournament, hosted by Gallaudet University.
He led the team with six double-doubles and poured in a career-high 36 points at Gallaudet on Nov. 23 and grabbed a career-best 18 rebounds twice, at Wesley College on Feb. 16 and Lycoming on Nov. 17.
Vann scored his 1,000th career point in a CAC tournament first-round win over York (Pa.) College Feb. 19. He finished with 1,038 after scoring 564 in three seasons at Division II California (Pa.) University.
Harwood, a 6-foot shooting guard from Rockville, Md., averaged 13 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. He also registered 2.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Harwood shot 42.9 percent (105-of-245) from the field and 41.3 percent (62-of-150) from three-point range to finish fourth in the conference. He was also seventh nationally in free-throw percentage, converting 89.9 percent of his opportunities.
Harwood was named CAC Player of the Week on Dec. 10 and earned a spot on the all-tournament team at Gallaudet on Nov. 24.
He scored a career-high 30 points, on seven three-pointers, at Wesley and grabbed a career-high seven boards against the Bison and four steals at Marymount (Va.) University on Jan. 23.
Salisbury (19-8) advanced to the CAC tournament semifinals as the third seed, falling to Wesley, but had its most wins since the 1996-97 season.
