BETHANY BEACH, Del.- The small town community of Bethany Beach was still buzzing over the news of Miss Delaware Teen USA, Melissa King, and her resignation of that crown after speculation about an adult video online.
Mary Lou Murray, a Lewes resident, believes someone in King's position should be held to a higher standard.
"I think it is inappropriate because I think that she should set an example and be a role model for our youth and that is certainly not being a role model," said Murray.
King has said in published reports that the woman in the video posted online is not her. However, a side by side comparison shows some similar physical characteristics between the two. Brandon Hill of Bethany Beach says he went to school with King and when showed the comparison photo, he confirmed the identity.
"It's her just without the makeup, but it is definitely her," said Hill.
Numerous people were shown the photo on Wednesday in Bethany Beach and many believed the woman in the video and King could be the same person. However, Bethany Beach resident Kathleen Resident is ready to leave King's past out of the discussion.
"There's not one person in this world that can judge anybody else. And to me, as far as I'm concerned, what she has done in the past is gone and that's what we learn from our past. Everyone of us here learns from our past and our mistakes. And that's how we grow," said Resident.
It's big news that has come to this small town and has everyone forming their opinions.
